“The following note may seem biased, as Montse Miranda is a good friend of mine. For a few days, I had the opportunity to gain more insight on what exactly Cutting Edge Events does. I can only write a note now to describe how impressed I was.

First of all, I must say I have always been attracted to the world of Sporting Events: be it formula 1, moto GP or football. Montse Miranda is in her element. She knows everything that needs to be known about the world of Sporting Event hospitality.


Secondly, that tour around La Rioja was one of the most relaxing and informative experiences I have had in the last few months of hectic work load. Thank you!


Having worked in events of all sorts and sizes over the years, I have been exposed to a large number of ideas and concepts. Montse really surprised me again, not only for what she does, but for how she does it. I'm talking about landscapes, people, places, that help turn every Event into a unique experience.


Cutting Edge Events has offices in Valencia and Barcelona, but they organise

Events throughout the Iberian peninsula, which they know like the palm of their hand. Shortly they will be able to operate elsewhere in Europe (Montse, correct me if I'm wrong!)

Netlight Incentive - October 2010

THE BRIEF: Netlight is a top ranked Swedish IT Consultant company, with branches in Sweden, Norway and the UK. Their CEO is in his early 30's and that says all about the company. They are young and dynamic. Netlight´s core values are competence, business sense and creativity.
The initial brief wrapped all this up. We were requested to offer a programmed based on 150 pax (all members of Netlight staff), where creativity was key and it had to be cost effective. Food or accommodation was not important, but rather creative ideas with a mix of fun, madness, competition and creativity.... Again the core values, .... competence, business sense and creativity.

BRIEF ANALYSIS:
At Cutting Edge Events, we started to think... umm, we´d better come up with very dynamic activities, and also very competitive, but keeping the team spirit,… and we better concentrate the budget on the activities rather than food or accommodation.

OUR SOLUTION: We offered accommodation in Magalluf, a resort in Mallorca that is very busy in summer, but in late October, it starts to get empty. We got amazing rates at a 4-star vocational hotel. OK, as it was low season- accommodation sorted, we have the budget for the activities.

CUTTING EDGE EVENTS MAGIC. We looked at the core values and the brief,  and decided to offer two activities, Crazy activity, loads of fun- We proposed a massive “tomatina”, a tomato war for 150 pax.

The tomato war was nearly madness. We bought 3.000Kgs of mature tomatoes, and hired a property to organise the tomato war. We provided the group with giant loudspeakers and some entertainers were managing the dynamics of the activity. Prior to the event, the entertainers had painted the faces of the participants in three different colours, a different colour per coach, on the way from the airport, to the tomato area. Now we had three teams ready to fight hard and make some ketchup. The atmosphere was indescribable.

Competition, team spirit: sailing regatta in the bay of Palma de Mallorca. There´s nothing better than the bay of Palma for a sailing day. Everything was flawless from a logistics point of view, from the initial skipper´s brief to the Regatta itself. The group was splitted into 22 different boats. The race followed a route in a triangle shape that was calculated to make the most of the existing wind levels.

A committee boat followed the boats and monitored the race in order to ensure the race was being fair.

All in all, it was a great sailing day with lots of competition and team skills were tested throughout the day.

Teambuilding in Barcelona

CLIENT

Roland Berger is a world wide leading strategic consulting firm, with a network of 36 offices in 25 countries, and around 2.000 employees. The Company organises dozens of small events and sales conferences throughout the year. Many conferences target clients or their sales force, and the content of the conference consists of a mix of presentaions, business analysis and teambuilding activities that aim to forge better relationships between them and their clients, and strengthen the ties among the members of their sales force.


HOW DID CEE HELP

During the bidding process, we put forward Sitges, as we thought the town is a small but attractive spot, close to Barcelona, where participants could attend the conference and then have easy access to the beach.

We organized a Volley Ball tournament on the beach, with a barbecue style lunch. We splitted the group into teams and we recreated the whole ritual of a real Volley tournament as we wath on TV

RESULT

Our guests ended up worn out, but feedback could not be better. They enjoyed their day out as much as their Hotel.

Sales rose by a 13% despite being a recession year.

We have had feedback a year later reporting better relationships between two offices located in the same country, that had experienced several conflicts due to targeting the same clients, and those offices are now colaborating in a more productive way.
